Recently I was proposed a new plea offer from the Bell County District Attorney’s Office. Initially; I was offered time served, would have to register as a sex offender, and the original charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault would be dismissed if I pled guilty to a much lesser charge of Indecency.
As I stated before, that initial plea offer was made because the accuser actually confessed to lying about the accusation in 2019; a year after I had already been incarcerated. Instead of the case against me being dropped; the Bell County District Attorney’s Office tried to cover their ass by offering me my freedom only if I essentially absolved them of their flagrant mishandling of this case and my false arrest and imprisonment.
Now that I have sat in jail for over 6 years, the new DA assigned to this case has offered me 10 years with emphasis on the fact that if I took the deal, I would already be eligible for parole and wouldn’t have to serve time in prison. To me, this new plea offer is a twisted means by which to somehow justify the time that I have been incarcerated in pretrial detention.
I would like to state once more that I have never asked for or even considered taking a plea deal and I rejected this one as vehemently as the first.
